I’m a Senior Staff Field Engineer at Kong, in Professional Services, based in the Netherlands. Most of my days go into gateway architecture, migrations from self-managed to cloud, and governance as code. More and more, they also go into putting LLM and MCP traffic behind a gateway safely.
Before Kong I built API platforms on Apigee, MuleSoft and 3scale. Seeing the same problems on four platforms taught me that most of them aren’t about the product. They’re integration patterns, and they keep coming back.
What I write about
- AI gateways and agent traffic: token budgets, model fallback, MCP, per-tool authorization, and what breaks in production.
- API platform craft: migrations, config linting and governance as code, observability that tells you something useful.
- Field notes: how a field engineer works in the AI era, and the odd lesson from life between India and the Netherlands.
Things I’ve built
- DVM: install and switch between decK versions locally.
- Kong + Grafana observability stack: metrics, logs and traces for a Konnect hybrid gateway, one command on a local kind cluster.
- Kong Konnect + Datadog: the same idea, wired into Datadog.
